Lydia (Bullock) Touloumtzis, 88, of Cobb Street, Mansfield, and formerly of South Main Street, Attleboro, died on Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Epoch Senior Healthcare of Norton. She was the wife of the late Michael George Touloumtzis to whom she was married on November 6, 1948 and who died on June 25, 2003. Born in Attleboro on June 5, 1923, Mrs. Touloumtzis was the daughter of the late Arthur W. Bullock, Sr. and Bertha (Currie) Bullock. She was raised and educated in Attleboro, where she resided for most of her life until moving to Mansfield two years ago. Mrs. Touloumtzis was a 1941 graduate of Attleboro High School and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from Tufts University in 1945. A student of biology, she worked after graduation at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. She had a lifelong fascination with insects and spiders. As a naturalist and environmentalist, she volunteered for many years as a docent at Capron Park Zoo in Attleboro. She was an avid reader and poet, and her name will be recognized by many Sun Chronicle subscribers because of her frequent submissions to that newspaper. Shortly before her death she dictated her obituary poem: "She laughed / She cried / She loved / She died." She leaves three sons: Michael E. Touloumtzis of Mansfield, George A. Touloumtzis of Greenfield and Steven C. Touloumtzis of North Hatfield; two daughters: Melanie C. Larson of Attleboro and Sarah A. Culgin of Ashburnham; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a brother: Arthur "Bud" W. Bullock, Jr. of Wellesley, and several extended family members and dear friends. In accordance with Lydia's wishes,visitation has been respectfully omitted. A private graveside service followed by burial will be held in North Purchase Cemetery, North Main Street - Route 152, Attleboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name and memory may be made to the Friends of Capron Park Zoo, 201 County Street, Attleboro, MA 02703.
