Lula Joyce (Cooley) Michaud, 92, of Rumford, Rhode Island, passed away at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island on January 30, 2023, as a result of injuries sustained in a fall at her home. She was the devoted wife of the late Reginald Malcolm Michaud to whom she was married on December 10, 1947, and passed away on September 15, 2021.
Born in Skowhegan, Maine on Christmas Eve 1930, she was a daughter of the late Elwin Arthur Cooley and the late Carrie Pearl (Faulkner) Cooley.
She was employed in the housekeeping department at Wheaton College in Norton, MA for ten years prior to her retirement.
Lula attended the Church of the Nazarene in Pawtucket, RI.
A strong woman of independence, she was a pioneer as she enjoyed shooting guns, archery, shooting pool, weightlifting and the punching bag (see video in guestbook)
She leaves her cherished children: Cheryl A. Emerson of Wrentham, MA; Leo D. Michaud and his wife, Linda, of Fort Meyers, Florida; Linda M. Turcotte and her husband, Dennis, of Cocoa Beach, Florida; Bev-Lee Johnson and her husband, Eric, of Norton, MA; her daughter-in-law: Susannah Michaud, wife of the late Elwin "Butch" Michaud of Wrentham, MA; her grandchildren: Rachelle, Kerri, Jenifer, Nicholas, Raelene, Dustin, Chari, Joshua and Jeffrey; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She also leaves two surviving siblings: Meredith (Champ) Cooley and Vivian Beland.
Relatives and friends are cordially and welcome to attend a Celebration of Life on February 11, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the Nazarene Church, 1275 Pawtucket Avenue, Pawtucket RI.
Burial in North Purchase Cemetery, Attleboro, MA will be conducted privately.
