Lucy L. (Prew) Johnson, 93, of Attleboro, MA, peacefully passed away surrounded by God and her family's love in the early hours of dawn on Saturday, January 28, 2017, while holding her daughter's hand. Born on February 18, 1923 in Seekonk, MA, she was the daughter of the late Alfred T. Prew and the late C. Lillian (Marriner) Prew.Lucy is now reunited with the love of her life, the late Frank B. Johnson, to whom she shared sixty-four years of a fulfilling and very happy, love-filled life.Lucy had beautiful blue eyes, was quick with a warm smile and laughter. She was a wonderful, sweet, kind, and humble person who lived her life with the utmost love and selfless devotion to her family. She was that one in a million wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, relative and friend who unselfishly put others before herself. She was a true, loving, caring, kind and gentle soul. Lucy and Frank lived in Attleboro and Tuftonboro, NH, where they spent many happy and fun-filled times with family and friends. They loved their yards, gardens, flowers and birds; rides in the country; their Shelties; and spending time with family and friends.Lucy and Frank spent many summers of their lives vacationing on the Cape at Brewster and camping at Nickerson State Park. Lucy loved the Cape, especially rides along Rt. 6A, Skaket Beach, and time making memories there. Mostly, Lucy loved time spent with family and friends, and was a wonderful homemaker. She and Frank loved music of every genre. Lucy played piano by ear, and music was always an integral part of their lives. Lucy was also a true New England sports fan.In earlier years, Lucy worked for Bancroft Co., and she also made bandages for the Red Cross/troops during World War II. She was affiliated with the Seekonk Grange, 4H, and First Baptist Church of Seekonk. Later in life, Lucy took great pride in working for her brother at Artline Co. in Attleboro, employed as a Proof Reader and cutter. She was the most loving, selfless, kind, and devoted mother to Paula (Johnson) Merriss and her husband, Dave Merriss, of Attleboro, MA, along with her cherished and beloved grandson, Chad Merriss of Vermont, and his companion, Valerie, and her sons Nate and Branden. She was the sister of Norman Prew and his wife, Phyllis; the late Althea "Dolly" (Prew) VanAughen; the late Walter Prew; the late A. Paul Prew; and Pauline Prew. Lucy leaves her Johnson and Prew extended family: many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins, including Cyndee, Paul, Scott Prew and their families, Jeanne, Fred, Yufen, the late Dale Mumford; Robert and Karl Johnson, Jr; Janice Johnson; Diane Johnson Smith; Phillip, Shirley, Gayle, Penney and Paquin families; the late Peggy, Ruthie, and Dottie Prew and all of their families. She also leaves her lifelong friend, Val Robson, and the late Bill and Ron Robson. Lucy was also very close to the late Johnson family. Lucy will always be in our hearts, thought and prayers.
