Louise F. (Phinney) Carvalho, 95, of Attleboro, MA, passed peacefully on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Garden Place Healthcare where she called home for almost 6 years. She was the wife of the late William F. Carvalho who died in 1983.
Born in Attleboro, MA on July 14, 1926, she was a daughter of the late William Phinney and the late Louise (Hebert) Phinney. Raised and educated in North Attleboro, MA, she resided there until moving to Plainville where she was a longtime resident prior to moving to Attleboro.
Early in her career, she was employed as a cook for the Town of Norton School Department and later in the bakery department of Fernandes Supermarket in North Attleboro. Always a caregiver for others, she ultimately became a certified nurse's assistant and was employed by Madonna Manor in North Attleboro for more than 30 years prior to her retirement.
While residing in Plainville, Mrs. Carvalho was a communicant of St. Martha Catholic Church.
She developed an early love for animals having cared for helpless injured animals and nursing them back to health since childhood.
Louise loved to dance, particularly during the swing era. When her daughter was young, she served as a Girl Scout Leader.
Left to mourn her loss are her daughter: Mary Louise Lake of Attleboro, MA; three granddaughters: Alison Brown and her husband, Douglas, of Warren, Rhode Island; Heather Lake of Plainville, MA and Caitlin Harrison and her husband, Michael, of Plainville, MA; three great grandchildren and several extended family members.
She was the sister of the late William Phinney, Abigail Couture, Edith "Dolly" Norton, Normand "Butch" Phinney and Mabel McPherson.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to honor and remember Louise by gathering for Visitation on Thursday, June 23, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
A Funeral Service will immediately follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the funeral home.
Private burial will be in Shepardville Cemetery, Plainville, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Louise to the Friends of the Plainville Senior Center, 9 School Street, Plainville, MA 02762.
