Lori Lucia (Piccirilli) Brown, 49, of Butterfly Way, North Attleboro, died on Saturday, February 6, 2010 surrounded by her loving family at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Hospice Center of the Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island in Providence, Rhode Island following a six year illness. She was the wife of Scott W. Brown to whom she was married on January 12, 1991.Born in Providence, Rhode Island on January 18, 1961, she was a daughter of Vincent J. Piccirilli of West Warwick, Rhode Island and the late Gloria E. (DiBiase) Piccirilli. She was the stepdaughter of Elaine Piccirilli of West Warwick, Rhode Island.Ms. Brown was raised and educated in her native city of Providence and was a 1979 graduate of Classical High School. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Studies from Providence College in 1983.Since 2007, Ms. Brown was a columnist for the Sun Chronicle newspaper in Attleboro. She chronicled and shared her journey and battle with cancer as she had felt compelled to share her story as a way of helping others understand what families facing cancer encounter. Previously, she was employed by Montione?s Biscotti Bakery formerly of Plainville, now Norton, for many years. A resident of North Attleboro since 2000, she previously resided in Providence and had lived in California for five years.A member of the First Congregational ?Oldtown? Church in North Attleboro, Ms. Brown served her church community as a member of the Missions Committee, Christian Education Committee and was a Sunday school teacher.Active in her children?s activities, she was involved in the local Parent-Teacher organizations and served as the chairperson of the Honors Breakfast program at North Attleboro Middle School for four years.She was a member of a group through the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Foundation in Rhode Island that, along with other survivors and caretakers, undertook writing a book about their individual experiences.Her greatest legacy will be that of a loving and devoted wife and mother.In addition to her husband, father and stepmother, she leaves a daughter: Dana R. Brown of North Attleboro; a son: Samuel P. Brown of North Attleboro; two sisters: Susan Piccirilli of Warwick, Rhode Island and Carol Piccirilli of Cranston, Rhode Island; two brothers: Vincent Piccirilli of Watertown and Gregory Piccirilli of North Kingston, Rhode Island; her mother-in-law: Margaret R. (Torrie) Brown of Holliston; her sister-in-law: Wendy Perry of Methuen, and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.She was the daughter-in-law of the late Courtney P.
