Lois Ruth (Beardsley) Fleming, 98, of Mount Hope Street, North Attleboro; formerly of Oak Street, Medfield, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at the Victorian Mansion in South Attleboro. She was the wife of the late Retired Colonel William Reid Fleming, U.S. Army to whom she was married on April 14, 1951 and who died on August 23, 2007. Born in Auburn, New York on May 6, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Edith (Ferris) Beardsley. She was raised and educated in her native community of Auburn where she graduated from high school and resided until moving to the Roslindale neighborhood of Boston briefly prior to moving to Medfield in 1954. Prior to her marriage in 1951, Mrs. Fleming was a secretary for an ophthalmologist's office. Following her marriage she devoted herself to her family. A woman of strong religious beliefs, attending Emmanuel Baptist Church in Norfolk then Mrs. Fleming served as Missions Secretary for the Walpole Assembly of God and later attended and volunteered for mission work with the and dedicated countless hours to the 10-4 Ministries that fed and clothed the homeless in Boston. More recently she has been a member of the Assembly of God, South Attleboro. She had a lifelong love for singing and music and in earlier years in Auburn, New York was a member of the Vocal Orchestra as a star soprano. Mrs. Fleming enjoyed gardening as well but her life was devoted to her family and her spirituality. She leaves a son: Ferris Reid Fleming, Sr. of North Attleboro; her "daughter-in-love": Annemarie (Maguire) Fleming, wife of Ferris Reid Fleming, Sr., of North Attleboro and three grandchildren: William Robert-Bruce Fleming of Providence, Rhode Island; Ferris Reid Fleming, Jr. of North Attleboro and HT2 Heather Lilly Marie Fleming, U.S. Navy, stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and generations of nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Bruce Evan Fleming who died on May 31, 2009. She was the sister of the late Charles Beardsley, Harry Beardsley, Helen Landers, Ferris Beardsley and Arthur Beardsley. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the DYER-LAKE FUNERAL HOME, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Burial with follow at Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, North Attleboro. Following cemetery services an invitation will be extended to return to the Fellowship Hall of the Assembly of God for a time of continued fellowship and refreshment.
