Livia Celina Petti

March 12, 1922 — September 27, 2016

Livia Celina (DeFusco) Petti, 94, of North Attleboro, MA, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Madonna Manor Nursing Home in North Attleboro, MA. She was the beloved wife of the late Nicholas Patrick Petti to whom she was wed on August 27, 1949, and who died in 2002. Born on March 12, 1922 in Italy, she was the daughter of the late Michael DeFusco and the late Elvira (Zompa) DeFusco.Livia was a graduate of Attleboro High School, Class of 1939, and worked for many years at the reception desk of Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. A resident of North Attleboro since 1955, she attended the National Shrine of Our Lady La Salette in Attleboro, where she was also very involved. Livia was a woman of diverse interests. She enjoyed dancing, and actively participated in sports of many kinds through her life: playing golf almost every day, bowling, and playing tennis. She was a loyal and ardent fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. Livia was passionate about travel throughout the world and the United States, and spoke several languages. She delighted in time spent with her many good friends, whose numbers diminished over the years simply because of the passage of time, and with her faithful canine companions: "Baron" and "Beau". Livia's greatest pride, comfort, and joy came from her family: her cherished late husband, and her treasured daughter, Nancy I. Petti, of Attleboro, who survives her. Visitation has respectfully been omitted.Burial will be private in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, at which time she will be reunited with her late husband. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Livia's name to either the Dementia Society of America, P.O. Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901, or on-line at www.dementiasociety.org ; or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.For additional information or to send the family a written expression of sympathy, please visit an online guest book at www.dyer-lakefuneralhome.com .
