Linda Ruth O'Connell

Linda Ruth (Simms) O'Connell, 73, of Plainville, MA, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro, MA. She was the beloved wife of Daniel Joseph O'Connell, to whom she was married on June 28, 1969.Born in Providence, RI on July 27, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Harold R. Simms and the late Mary I. (Healey) Simms.A graduate of Attleboro High School, Class of 1961, she continued her education at Katherine Gibbs College. Linda was a wonderful Homemaker for her family, and before her retirement in 1972, she worked as a helper at the Attleboro Public Library for four years, and for three years as a Secretary at the L.G. Balfour Company in Attleboro. A resident of Plainville for the past eleven years, she previously lived for fourteen years in Mansfield, MA.Linda was an active woman who loved the outdoors and genuinely loved people. She enjoyed bicycling, camping in her family's camper, and walking. She took pride in caring for her home and family, and especially valued the time she spent with her family and her treasured grandchildren.In addition to her husband, she is survived by her cherished daughter, Erin Leigh (O'Connell) Waite and her husband, Michael J. Waite, of Plainville, MA. She was the adoring grandmother of Jesse D. Waite, age eight, and Molly E. Waite, age seven; and the dear sister of Keith M. Simms and his late wife, Patricia (Jordan) Simms, of Wrentham, MA, and the late Kristen Simms, who died in her infancy. Linda leaves her very special first cousin who lovingly cared for her, Gretchen Reilly, of Attleboro, MA and Cape Cod, and her late husband, Richard Reilly; as well as many dear friends. Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Linda's life by gathering for a Visitation on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.Friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend a Funeral Service immediately following visitation on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
