Lillian M. (Auty) Sumner, 105, of Norton, MA, formerly of Attleboro Falls, peacefully passed away on Monday, June 4, 2018 at Life Care Center of Attleboro in Attleboro, MA. She was the beloved wife of the late John P. Sumner, to whom she was married on July 4, 1936, and who died on November 10, 1974. Born on February 17, 1913 in North Attleboro, she was the daughter of the late Enoch Auty and the late Jennie Florence (Mason) Auty. She was a graduate of North Attleboro High School, Class of 1931, and a lifelong resident of the community. Mrs. Sumner was an active member of the Central Congregational Church in Attleboro Falls, having taught Sunday School there for fifty years, being elected as a Church Elder, serving as a member of the Women's Union, and frequently volunteering at Church fairs over the years. She was a volunteer and driver for the Lincoln Circle for the Blind and served as a member of the North Attleboro Historical Society. Mrs. Sumner enjoyed knitting, sewing, and had a fondness for African violets. She was the loving mother of David Sumner of Norton, MA, and his late spouse, Robert DaRosa; and Richard Sumner and his wife, Therese M. (Sullivan) Sumner, of Narragansett, RI. Mrs. Sumner leaves three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Marion Holbrook, and leaves two nieces and nephews. All services will be privately held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Sumner's name to the Memorial Gifts Fund of Central Congregational Church, PO Box 1319, Attleboro Falls, MA 02763.
