Leonard A. Halko

August 21, 1954 — November 30, 2023

Leonard Alexander Halko, 69, of South Attleboro, MA, passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully upon arrival to Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro, MA on November 30, 2023.  He was the beloved husband of the late Diane D. (Languirand) Halko to whom he was married on December 12, 1980.
Born in Attleboro, MA on August 21, 1954, he was the son of the late Michael Halko and the late Meredith (Sargeant) Halko.
Raised and educated in Norton, MA, Mr. Halko was a graduate of Norton High School and later earned his associate's and bachelor's degrees and lastly his masters degree in database analysis from Johnson & Wales in Providence, Rhode Island.
He was employed as a database analyst and had worked primarily with Blue Cross Blue Shield in Providence, Rhode Island prior to his retirement.
Leonard celebrated his faith at the Bethany Village Fellowship in South Attleboro, MA.
He was a longtime member of the South Attleboro Lions Club and the Attleboro Library Chess Club.  Reading and playing chess were among some of his favorite pastimes; however,  he lived for and enjoyed time spent with his cherished grandson, Oliver "Ollie".  He will be remembered for performing random acts of kindness for family, friends and even strangers.
Left to mourn his loss are his son: Nicholas W. Halko and his wife, Lisa J. (Guerrero) Halko, of Cumberland, Rhode Island; his six-year old grandson, Oliver Halko, of Cumberland, Rhode Island and his fiance: Tara Briggs of Attleboro, MA.
At his request, private visitation and a private funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023, from the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA. Burial will follow in Newell Burying Ground, South Attleboro, MA.
Family and friends are welcome to join the family for a Celebration of Life, fellowship and refreshments on Thursday, December 7, 2023, beginning at 11:30 AM at Bethany Village Fellowship, Newport Avenue, South Attleboro, MA.
Please omit flowers.  Memorial donations in Mr. Halko's name may be made to the Massachusetts Lions Eye Research, Attn: PDG Jim Roth, 43 Stewart Terrace, Belmont, MA  02478.
