Leo Gerard Lafond, 84 Retired Construction Foreman and SuperintendentLeo Gerard Lafond, 84, of Irving Avenue, East Providence, Rhode Island; formerly of South Attleboro, died on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at the Linn Health Care Center in East Providence, Rhode Island. He was the beloved husband of the late Anita T. (Champagne) Lafond to whom he was married on January 16, 1954 and who died on September 3, 2010. Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on April 2, 1926, he was a son of the late George and Laura (Dion) Lafond. Mr. Lafond moved to South Attleboro from Pawtucket, Rhode Island in 1965 and resided in that community until moving to East Providence a short time ago. He was a veteran of the United States Army. His favorite pastimes included creating lifelong memories with his beloved wife, talking walks and listening to country western music. Mr. Lafond was a member of the Eugene T. Lefebvre Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 1271.He leaves numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Mr. Lafond was the brother of the late Ora Blanchette, Eva Gagnon, Roland Lafond, Yvonne Iemma and Phillip Lafond. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation with Veterans Honors on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 from 4:00 7:00 PM in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on the left) Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. A prayer service with Veterans Honors will be held during visitation on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 4:30 PM in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on the left) Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Burial with military honors will be private in St. Stephens Cemetery, Attleboro. Childrens room available during visitation and the prayer service.
