Leo George Cordeiro, 76, of North Attleboro, MA died on Sunday, April 19, 2020 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro after a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Noreen Walsh Cordeiro, to whom he was married for 34 years.
Born on April 13, 1944 in New Bedford, MA to the late Joseph and Marie (Berube) Cordeiro, but raised in Fairhaven, MA. Leo was a proud resident of North Attleboro for twenty-eight years before moving from Plainville, MA and Fairhaven. Leo graduated from Fairhaven High School, Class of 1962.
Leo was preceded in death by both his parents and his former wife, Philomena Cordeiro Birch, with whom he shared a beautiful daughter, Christine.
Leo worked as an IT Director for various high technology companies for many years, including a 10-year tenure at Codex/Motorola in Mansfield, MA, eventually retiring in 2003. Upon retirement, Leo was employed as their very first 'starter' for their outside operations staff at the newly opened Tournament Players Club in Norton, MA where he enthusiastically welcomed many local club members as well as celebrity golfers throughout his 19 years with the TPC/Boston organization.
Leo was greatly loved for his cheerfulness, hearty chuckle, sense of humor, and his positive nature.
He proudly and honorably served our country in the United States National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Noreen Walsh Cordeiro of North Attleboro, MA; his daughter, Christine (Cordeiro) Eglitis and her husband, Todd, of Canton, GA; and his two grandchildren, Zachary Eglitis and Stephanie Eglitis of Canton, GA, He leaves his two sisters, Joan Duchaine of Mooresville, NC, and Pam Jordan and her husband, Edward, of Stokesdale, NC; his brother-in-law, Brian Walsh, and his wife, Dawn, and their son and his fiancé and granddaughter of Largo, FL; his sister-in-law, Margery Walsh Horan, and her two children of Hopkinton, MA; his nieces, Debbie Leoncini Harden and her husband, Tom, and their children and grandchildren; Bonnie and her husband, Joe, and their children and grandchildren; Kim Peplinski and her husband, Eric; nephews, Michael Duchaine and his wife, Amy, and their daughter; Kevin Jordan and his fiancé Karrie; many cousins and their families, all of whom he loved dearly; and numerous life-long family friends whom he always considered to be his second family.
The family would like to give special thanks to the doctors and nurses for the care and compassion given to Leo during his brief illness.
At Leo's request, there will be no funeral service; however, a Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
