Lauretta J. (Brassard) Alegria, 63, of North Attleboro, MA passed away peacefully on September 23, 2022, at HopeHealth Hospice Inpatient Center in Providence, RI following a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of Mark A. Alegria to whom she was married on June 5, 1992.
Born in Attleboro, MA on October 29, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Francis "Pat" N. Brassard and her best friend and mother - the late Eleana J. (Malandrucco) Brassard.
Raised and educated in Plainville, MA, Lauretta was a 1976 graduate of Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro.
She resided in North Attleboro since November 1996, having previously resided in Attleboro from 1989 - 1996 and previously in North Attleboro and Plainville.
A "true people person", she was a waitress many years ago and worked for more than 10 years at J.C. Penney in North Attleboro in a variety of positions including customer service manager and most recently was an office worker for Zumault Tree Experts in Attleboro.
A woman of strong religious convictions, she was a long-time parishioner of St. Martha Parish in Plainville.
Always active in her children's activities, she was active in the community and among other things served as a volunteer at Sacred Heart - St. Mary School in North Attleboro, was a member of the P.T.O. at the Falls School and served as a Brownie Troop leader. She was a consummate hostess and when she entertained everyone left with a full belly.
Lauretta enjoyed camping with her family at the Bourne Scenic Campground, and other places on Cape Cod and in New Hampshire and treasured finding a good bargain while shopping. The holidays were her favorite time of the year and no holiday passed without her decorating her entire house for the appropriate season.
In addition to her beloved husband of 30 years, she leaves her children: Benjamin "Ben" Alegria and his wife, Keerie Auld, of Mansfield, MA, and Jacqueline "Jackie" Alegria and her husband, Christopher Jones, of Millinocket, Maine, her granddaughter: Skylar Alegria of Millinocket, Maine; her cousin: Jocelyn Varieur, whom was like a sister to Lauretta, of Plainville, MA; her sister-in-law: Bonney (Mobley) Brassard of Plainville, MA and a nephew: Sean Walsh and his wife, Meghan McCoy, of Montague, MA and their son: Jack McCoy-Walsh of Montague, MA.
She was the sister of the late Lawrence L. Brassard who died on August 15, 2022.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend Visitation on Friday, September 30, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the Funeral from the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Martha Parish, 227 South Street, Plainville, MA.
Graveside services will follow in St. John's Cemetery, West Street, Attleboro, MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Lauretta's name may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
