Laura M. (Voccio) Barreira, 97, of 2 King Philip Avenue, Bristol, RI, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Saint Elizabeth Manor in Bristol with the assistance of Continuum Hospice Care of West Warwick R.I. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Barreira Jr., to whom she was married on February 2, 1946 and who passed away on October 4, 2012.
Born on May 28, 1921 in Bristol, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Natalina (Medina) Voccio.
Raised and educated in Bristol, she worked for many years as a skilled Seamstress for several dress shops in the community before retiring many years ago. A longtime resident of Bristol before moving to West Palm Beach, FL for more than twenty years, she then returned to Bristol in 2012.
A woman of great faith and devotion, she was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Bristol. Laura enjoyed trips to Florida with her family and friends, and, more than anything in her life, loved spending quality time with her cherished family and dear friends.
She leaves her dear sister and best friend, Pat Cruso of Bristol, RI, as well as her sister-in-law, Lillian Barreria of Fall River, MA. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, her extended family members, and many, many dear friends. Laura was predeceased by her siblings: Mary Della Fava, Minnie Carmone, Antoinette Raponi, Rose DiMezza, Josephine Voccio and sister-in-law Hilda Ferreira.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 141 State Street, Bristol, RI.
Burial with follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol, at which time Laura will be laid to rest alongside her dear late husband.
Following cemetery services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Laura to either Continuum Hospice & Palliative Care, 1350 Division Rd., Suite 205, West Warwick, RI 02893, or to Saint Elizabeth Manor, 1 Dawn Hill Rd, Bristol,?RI?02809.
