Larry Dean Bennett, 52, of George Street, North Attleboro, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 in Los Angeles, California. He was the husband of Mary L. (Slattery) Bennett. Born in Casa Grande, Arizona on June 27, 1958, he was a son of Marjorie Ethel (Wickmark) Bennett of Deltona, Florida and the late Gerald Herbert Bennett. He was a 1976 graduate of Jamestown High School in Jamestown, New York and earned his Bachelor of Arts in English from the State University College of New York at Geneseo. Mr. Bennett was a graduate of Bowman Technical School in Lancaster, Pennsylvania where he learned the jewelry manufacturing industry. Mr. Bennett was the former owner and operator of Bennett Jewelers in three locations in New York and Pennsylvania and served as the sales manager for J & C Ferrara Company, Inc. in North Attleboro and at Imperial-Deltah, Inc. in Providence, Rhode Island. He returned to college and earned his Masters of Business Administration from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island in 1998. He was an adjunct professor and, later, a professor at Johnson & Wales University in Providence from 2000 2006 and was a professor of business management and entrepreneurship at Syracuse University in New York from 2006 -2010. Mr. Bennett traveled to South Africa representing Syracuse University and to Italy representing Johnson & Wales University to aid start-up entrepreneurial businesses in those countries. He resided in Casa Grande, Arizona until moving to Jamestown, New York in 1968 where he resided until 1994 when he moved to North Attleboro. Mr. Bennett was a communicant of St. Mark Roman Catholic Church in the Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. In Jamestown, New York, he was a member of the Rotary Club. He enjoyed water sports in his youth, was an avid reader and traveler and was a history aficionado. In addition to his wife and mother, he leaves three children: Sarah E. Bennett of North Attleboro; Kelly A. Banks and her husband, Christopher W. Banks, of North Attleboro and Jon M. Bennett of North Attleboro; a granddaughter: Ava E. Banks of North Attleboro; three brothers: Michael Bennett of Salem, Oregon; Mark Bennett of Carrollton, Texas and Craig Bennett of Woodstock, Georgia and several extended family members and friends. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Thursday, April 7, 2011 from 4:00 8:00 PM in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on the left) Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Those in need of a local ride to visitation may call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. Marks Roman Catholic Church, 105 Stanley Street (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, turn right onto Stanley Street in mile and travel to end of Stanley Street), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Thomas A. Frechette, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be private. Childrens room available during visitation. Please do not send flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dyer-Lake Charitable Foundation, Inc., a registered 501 (c) 3 organization, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, North Attleboro, MA 02760 to benefit an organization to be determined by the family.
