Laraine M. Lorie (Barrows) Kindstedt, 66, of Hovey Street, Quincy, Massachusetts, died unexpectedly in San Juan, Puerto Rico on August 11, 2011 after having been stricken ill three weeks earlier while on vacation. Born in Rochester, New York on August 12, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Martin and Loretta (Beaman) Barrows. She was a 1962 graduate of Greece Olympia High School in Rochester, New York and earned her Masters of Education in Special Education from Rhode Island College in 1979. A resident of Quincy, MA since 2006, Ms. Kindstedt formerly resided in Milton, MA and previously was a resident of Rhode Island for more than 35 years. Formerly a software programmer, she was currently working with the United States Environmental Protection Agency. Her favorite pastime included those spent traveling, attending the theatre, enjoying and interpreting art, playing African drums and listening to African music and was an ardent runner. She leaves two daughters: Dana Signe Kindstedt Munroe and her husband, Justin R. Munroe, of Cranston and Gretchen A. Kindstedt of Quincy, MA; three sisters: Patricia A. Kiel and her husband, Thomas F. Kiel, of Rochester, NY; Shirley E. Thomas and her husband, Jackson E. Thomas, of Webster, NY and Martina M. Barrows and her husband, Bubba Snyder, of Colorado Springs, CO; two nieces: Christine and Kim; a nephew: Michael and four great nieces and nephews, extended family members and many dear friends. She was the aunt of the late Jason E. Thomas who died in 1997. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Childrens room is available during the visitation. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Funeral Service on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the First Unitarian Church of Providence, One Benevolent Street, Providence. There will be no funeral cortege leaving from the funeral home prior to the commencement of the funeral service. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Dyer-Lake Charitable Foundation, Inc., a registered 501 (c) 3 organization, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, North Attleboro, MA 02760 to benefit Rosies Place.
