L Laurence Rita, Jr.

Larry Rita, 64, entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at his home in Riverside, Caifornia. Born in New Bedford, he was a son of the late Louis L. and Veronica (Earley) Rita. He was predeceased by an older brother, James, and is survived by two brothers: Captain John P. Rita of Freetown and the Reverend Thomas L. Rita, Pastor of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish, Seekonk. He was a California resident for more than 40 years. Mister Rita worked in the food services industry and before retiring was self-employed as a caterer. He served in the National Guard, was a graduate of New Bedford High School and attended Newman Preparatory School, Boston. Visitation respectfully omitted. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Saint Lawrence Martyr Church, 565 County Street, New Bedford.
