Kenneth E. Maynard

Kenneth E. Maynard, 97, of Norton, MA passed away peacefully after a life well-lived on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at the Daggett-Crandall-Newcomb Home in Norton, MA where he resided since 2019.  He was the best friend and husband of the late Jeannette A. (Langlois) Maynard to whom he married on September 7, 1946 and enjoyed seventy-one years of marriage until her passing on March 21, 2018.  They resided in the Hebronville section of Attleboro for over 60 years along the Ten Mile River where they hosted many parties and gatherings.
Born in West Mansfield, MA on February 24, 1924, he was one of 12 children born to the late Richard Wright Maynard, Sr. and the late Maude E. (Watson) Maynard.  In 1938, he and his family moved to Attleboro, MA where he resided until moving to Norton, MA in 2019.
He was so proud to have served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army.  He entered active service on December 13, 1943 and achieved the rank of Corporal prior to his discharge on June 15, 1946.  He was the recipient of the American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.
Having joined the service prior to the completion of high school, Mr. Maynard was unable to graduate.  However, on June 9, 2000, Mr. Maynard and several additional veterans, received their high school diplomas from the City of Attleboro at the Veterans of World War II diploma ceremony.
Prior to his retirement in 1985, he was employed for 27 years by the former Foxboro Company as a section leader and supervisor in the Sub Assembly Department.
He was a communicant of the former St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church in the Dodgeville section of Attleboro, MA where five generations of his family worshipped.  He later became a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs in Seekonk, MA.
A true and faithful patriot, Mr. Maynard was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Gilbert Perry Post 115 in Attleboro, MA, member of the American Legion Post 312 in South Attleboro, MA and was a member of the National Association of Civilian Conservation Corps alumni.
He and Jeannette enjoyed much time together at the Hockomock Area Y.M.C.A. as a member of the Live Y'ers.
Kenneth will forever be remembered as a man devoted to his faith and family and his love for creating music on his harmonica and entertaining family and friends.
He leaves his cherished children: Marilyn G. (Maynard) Cronin and her husband, Michael E. Cronin, of Norton, MA; Elaine D. (Maynard) Allard and her husband, Dale L. Allard, of South Attleboro, MA; Janet G. (Maynard) Duffy and her husband, Stephen Duffy, of Rogue River, Oregon and Kenneth M. Maynard and his wife, Schelley Maynard, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; five grandchildren: Lynn M. Carpeno, Jennifer A. Prescott, Kelly L. Satti, Megan E. Duffy and the late Jonathan D. Allard; 7 great grandchildren; his siblings: Donald L. Maynard of Attleboro, MA; James H. Maynard of Attleboro, MA; William P. Maynard in Vermont; Douglas H. Maynard of Attleboro, MA; Russell A. Maynard of Rehoboth, MA; Margaret E. St. George in Florida; Marion Brannigan DuBois of Bellingham, MA and the late Ruth I. Turgeon, the late Hilda Williams, the late Frederick R. Maynard and the late Richard W. Maynard, Jr.
Kenneth also leaves generations of nieces and nephews, many extended family members and dear friends.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend Visitation with Veteran's Honors on Monday, November 1, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 - All Souls Day, at 9:00 a.m. in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Roman Catholic Church, Seekonk.
There will be no funeral cortege from the funeral home prior to the commencement of the Funeral Mass.
Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Stephen's Cemetery in Attleboro, MA where Kenneth and Jeannette will be reunited.
The use of facemasks and social distancing is encouraged by the family for those in attendance.
