Kenneth "Ken" Bowling, 78, of Attleboro, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth C. "Betty" Bowling, to whom he was wed on June 10, 1967.Born on September 9, 1938 in La Plata, MD, he was the son of the late Wallace Bowling and Laural (Smith) Bowling.Ken graduated from Maryland High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Johnson & Wales University. He honorably and proudly served our country in the United States Army. Ken worked for many years at Almacs Supermarkets, and part-time for the Sun Chronicle newspaper, Hills Food, and for Norfolk Daycare before retiring in 2013. A recent resident of Attleboro, he lived in South Attleboro for thirty-one years. Ken genuinely enjoyed caring for others. He was an avid reader of newspapers, and had a love of animals, especially dogs, cats, and birds. He was a gifted gardener with a "green" thumb. Ken loved to spend time with his family and especially his grandchildren.In addition to his wife, he leaves his cherished daughter, Kimberly E. (Bowling) Lima and her husband, Luis T. Lima, of Seekonk, MA. He was the adoring grandfather of Raquel E. Lima and Shantel K. Lima. Ken was the dear brother of Francis Bowling and his late wife, Florine Bowling, of OH, and was predeceased by his siblings: Eugene Bowling, Robert Bowling, Mary Bowling, and Thomas Bowling. He leaves numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.Friends and family are cordially invited to attend a Visitation with Veteran's Honors on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Funeral Service immediately following visitation on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA. Children's room is available during visitation and funeral service.Graveside services with Full Military Honors will be held at a later date in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
