Kathleen (D'Ambrosio) Benson

Kathleen Ann (D'Ambrosio) Benson, 74, of Attleboro, MA passed away on October 21, 2021, at the Pawtucket Falls Nursing Home.  She was the wife of Rolf Stuart Benson to whom she was married on September 11, 1971.
Born in the Brooklyn neighborhood of New York City, New York on March 25, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Joseph John D'Ambrosio and the late Lorraine D. (McCready) D'Ambrosio.  Although a resident of Attleboro since 1971, she proudly considered herself a "true New Yorker".  Raised and educated in Brooklyn, she was a graduate of St. Agatha's High School.
Mrs. Benson was employed as a retail sales associate for the former London's Department Store in downtown Attleboro prior to joining her daughter and niece's business, Distinctively Sweden, in Plainville, MA for more than 20 years prior to her retirement in 2018.
She attended Evangelical Covenant Church, Attleboro.
Although a lifelong New Yorker in heart, Kathleen loved the Boston Celtics and was the self-declared biggest fan ever of Larry Bird.  She was also an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
For many years she was a volunteer at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro; was a member of the Attleboro Ski Club where she served on the board of directors and as treasurer and secretary and served on the board of directors for the Florence Sweet House in Attleboro.  At home, she treasured the time spent reading and conversing on the phone with her family and many friends.
In addition to her husband, she leaves a daughter: Kristina A. Benson of Attleboro, MA; her siblings: Eileen (D'Ambrosio) Gallagher, wife of the late James Gallagher, in New Jersey and Joseph D'Ambrosio and his wife, Martha Taylor, of Bronxville, New York and many nieces, nephews. She was "Nonnie Kate" to Gunnar and Ezra.
Visitation has been respectfully omitted.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a Funeral Service on Friday, November 12, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church, 841 North Main Street, Attleboro, MA 02703.
Burial will follow in North Purchase Cemetery, Attleboro, MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Benson's name may be made to the Memorial Fund of the Evangelical Covenant Church, 841 North Main Street, Attleboro, MA 02703.
