Karl James Zeigler, 79 Retired Heavy Equipment Operator Karl James Zeigler, 79, of Streeter Lane, Attleboro, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the husband of Shirley E. (Mohr) Zeigler to whom he was married on May 8, 1954. Born in Boonville, New York on June 29, 1932, he was a son of the late John and Lucy (Aiken) Zeigler. Raised and educated in New York, Mr. Zeigler resided in Attleboro since 1956 having moved to that community from Taunton. He and his wife also enjoyed the time spent at their home in Port Charlotte, Florida for many years. Mr. Zeigler proudly served in the United States Navy from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1955. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for MASSLITE in Plainville for almost thirty years prior to his retirement. He had attended the Second Congregational Church in Attleboro. Mr. Zeigler's favorite pastimes included working in his yard, remodeling projects and tending to his vegetable garden. In Florida he proudly remodeled his home. Mr. Zeigler was also an avid NASCAR fan. With his beloved wife he enjoyed square dancing, traveling and taking cruises. In addition to his wife of 58 years, he leaves two children: Karen E. Renda and her husband, Marco J. Renda, of Attleboro and Bruce Karl Zeigler and his wife, Ann F. (Ferland) Zeigler, of Attleboro; four grandchildren: Eric Karl Zeigler of Houston, Texas; Kathryn Zeigler Berdos and her husband, Stephen Berdos, of Attleboro; Brendan J. Zeigler of Attleboro and Matthew R. Winn of Cambridge; a sister: Carol Johnson and her husband, "Butch" Johnson, of Boonville, New York; three brothers: Donald Zeigler and his wife, Stella Zeigler; Richard Zeigler and his wife, Hattie Zeigler, and Robert Zeigler and his wife, Eleanor Zeigler, all of Boonville, New York; several nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation with Veteran's Honors on Friday, June 22, 2012 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral service with Veteran's Honors on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 10:00 in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Glenn Rounseville, officiating. Private burial with military honors will be in Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, Mount Hope Street, North Attleboro. Please omit flowers.
