Karen E. (Shaw) Blais, 75, of Cumberland, Rhode Island, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025. at Mount St. Rita Healthcare Center in Cumberland, Rhode Island where she had been a longtime resident.
Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on October 7, 1949, she was a daughter of the late John F. Shaw and the late Mary E. (Bowman) Shaw. She was raised and educated in Central Falls, Rhode Island where she was a graduate of the community's high school.
Following high school, she was employed at Hasbro and then took time to raise her family and be a devoted homemaker. Once her children were grown, she returned to the workforce and was employed as an administrative assistant for the former Cockroft Company in East Providence, RI and ultimately ended her career as a clerk in the retail trade for many years.
Her favorite pastimes included gardening, cooking, caring for children and being a dedicated homemaker. She was an avid listener of diverse genres of music and was a lifelong animal lover having adopted countless animals over the years.
She was the mother of John N. Blais of Warwick, RI and Joseph P. Blais of Cumberland, RI; grandmother of Heather Stephenson and Alora Blais; great grandmother of Chloe Stephenson, Aaralyn Stephenson, Zander Stephenson and sister of John Shaw and his wife, Jane Shaw, of Warren, RI.
Mrs. Blais was the mother of the late Normand L. Blais III who died on December 29, 2024.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend Visitation on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
There will be no public funeral service or cemetery services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pawtucket Animal Shelter, 401 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket, RI 02861.
