Kara M. Sturgeon, 43, of New Bedford, MA; passed away on September 3, 2022, at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, MA following a two-week illness. She was the wife of Shane Sturgeon.
Born in Weymouth, MA on May 13, 1979, she was a daughter of Robert Sylvia and Linda (Hemmings) Sylvia.
A lifelong resident of the City of New Bedford, she attended St. Mary's Catholic School as a child and was a graduate of Bishop Stang High School. She later studied behavioral science and served as a counselor to children.
As an artisan, she made jewelry and as an animal lover, spent much time performing animal rescue work.
Funeral services will be private.
