Julio Enrique Mendizabal Rivera, 85, of North Attleboro, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2016 at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. He was the beloved husband of the late Lilia (Larrañaga) Mendizabal who died in 1998.Born on September 10, 1930 in Guatemala, he was the son of the late Jose Enrique Mendizabal and the late Vidaura (Rivera) Mendizabal. A well-recognized and well-regarded Certified Public Accountant for more than thirty years, Julio was an owner and operator of Oficina Tecnica Profesional in Guatemala before retiring and moving to the United States. He was a longtime member of the Club de Leones Guatemala Utatlan, a part of the Lions Clubs International, as well as a member of the Sociedad Auxilios Mutuos de Comercio, and the Colegio de Economistas de Guatemala. A member of the Circulo deportivo Guatemalteco Sports Club, Julio was an avid sportsman, having enjoyed tennis, soccer, and playing pool in his younger years. He is survived by his four beloved children: Rodolfo Antonio Mendizabal and his wife, Liliana Mendizabal, of North Attleboro, MA; Lilia Aracely Mendizabal and her husband, Marco Gonzalez, of Albion, RI; Julio Enrique Mendizabal and his wife, Gloria Mendizabal, of Houston, TX; and Maria de los Angeles Mendizabal ("Julia") of Guatemala. He was the adoring grandfather of Julio Gabriel, Maria Teresa, Adrian, Daniel, Paola, Lyza, Scarlet, Claudia, Julio Antonio, and Luis Estuardo, and nineteen treasured great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sisters: Aura of Miami, FL and Marilu of Guatemala; and his brother, Ricardo, of Guatemala. Julio was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers.
