Judith "Judy" (Stolworthy) King, 77, of Plainville, MA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Newton Wellesley Hospital in Newton, MA. She previously resided at Epoch Senior Healthcare of Weston in Weston, MA. Born in Attleboro, MA on April 22, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Frank H. and Gertrude (Horton) Stolworthy.Judy spent most of her life living in her family's home on West Bacon Street built by her father. After her parents' deaths, continued living there until the home was destroyed by fire. Judy attended Plainville schools, graduating from King Philip Regional High School. She then graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, earning degrees in Home Economics and Education. She later took advanced courses at Bridgewater State College to improve her teaching skills. She taught Culinary Art in Bourne, MA, later moving to Richmond, CA, where she taught Art. The fast paced lifestyle was not to her liking, and so she returned to Plainville and the home she loved, where she became the Elementary Art Supervisor for both elementary schools in Plainville. Judy finally found the job she loved, and enjoyed working there until her retirement. It was at this time that she found another passion - chipping away at rocks, and enrolled in a geology course at the University of Rhode Island. She found many rare specimens, of which she was quite proud, and displayed some of them in her rock garden.Judy also took summer classes at Fletcher Farm Craft School in Ludlow, VT, expanding her expertise in quilting, batiking, scrap-booking, and crafting dollhouse miniatures. She won several competitions in dollhouses and quilting, and her hand-crafted greeting cards were always extra special. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Carol (England) Stolworthy of Attleboro Falls, MA; her two nephews: Mark B. Stolworthy of Attleboro Falls, MA; John H. Stolworthy, his wife, Rachel (Farina) Stolworthy, and their son, Christopher R. Stolworthy, all of Belmont, NH. Judy lost her brother, Robert H. Stolworthy, to ALS in 2002. She also leaves several maternal cousins. She was the former wife of the late Neil King.At her request, there will be no visitation, memorial, or funeral service. Judy will be laid to rest alongside her mother in Plainville Cemetery at a later date."She saw the beauty in nature, and conveyed that to her art, which the loved ones she leaves behind will have the chance to admire and cherish forever; and maybe she has inspired one of her students to carry on that tradition". Rest in peace, Judy. For additional information or to send the family a written expression of sympathy, please visit an online guest book at
