Judith "Judy" Lea Bachelder Eustace died after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at her home in North Attleboro, Massachusetts, surrounded by her family. She was 68.
Judy was born November 13, 1957, to the Reverend Stephen Bachelder and Dorothy Gunderson Bachelder in Middletown, New York, where the Reverend Bachelder served as minister of First Congregational Church and as chaplain at the Middletown State Hospital. In 1972, Judy moved with her family to the Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, Massachusetts, where her father had accepted a position as minister of Central Congregational Church. She graduated from North Attleboro High School in 1975, subsequently enrolling at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts. In 1979, she received a bachelor's degree cum laude from Mount Holyoke College with a major in theater arts and a minor in English.
She then began a successful career of more than 40 years in the local and regional cable television industry-writing, filming, and producing a well-received television program entitled North Notes for many years and more recently serving as a leased access manager for Comcast, working with independent programmers to air content on Comcast's cable system. Her exemplary expertise, dedication, and professionalism were recognized by the cable television industry through a number of awards over the years. Judy was especially pleased to receive the John Notte III Award for Superior Production Values from the New England Connectivity and Telecommunications Association, along with a colleague, for their 2005 program The Vietnam Moving Wall: A Journey of Remembrance.
On May 30, 1999, Judy married the love of her life, Paul Eustace. They shared many interests, including theater, movies, books, travel, music, and art. They also shared a special love and concern for animals and treasured the moments they spent with their beloved Bichon Frise dog, Barkley.
Blessed with intelligence, creativity, kindness, a fun-loving nature, and generosity of spirit, Judy contributed much to her family, friends, church, and community. She taught Sunday School classes and sang in the senior choir at Central Congregational Church for many years. A talented musician with a lovely voice, she played the guitar and composed beautiful songs for the enjoyment of others. She authored and produced a cookbook featuring cherished family recipes and memories and wrote an engaging children's book The Adventures at Wildacre. She took on significant roles in a range of Attleboro Community Theatre productions, delighting audiences with her acting skills. An accomplished hostess at numerous family gatherings over the years, she was also the mainstay of many family members in times of illness or infirmity, serving tirelessly as their supportive, caring, and conscientious caregiver each step of the way.
Faced with her own final illness, Judy characteristically showed more concern for others than for herself. Patient in tribulation, she made every effort to cheer up downcast family members, saying, "Don't be sad; this is all just part of the journey." Her cheerfulness and courage uplifted the hearts of everyone around her, easing their burdens and providing them with a special example for taking the sad events of life in stride.
Judy is survived by a brother, the Reverend Robert S. Bachelder (Beverly); nephews Stephen Bachelder, James Eustace, William Eustace, Aaron Britt, Alex Britt, and Andrew Britt (Meghan); and nieces Elizabeth Bachelder (Philip Davidowsky), Greta Eustace, and Emily Britt Davis (Evan).
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul, who passed away in 2019, and by her parents and grandparents.
