Joy A. Beland, 39, of Brook Street, New Bedford, passed away at St. Luke's Hospital on Sunday, April 21, 2013. Her loving and beloved parents were David R. and Cindy Ann Beland of Attleboro. Born on January 17, 1974, in Providence, Rhode Island, she lived in Attleboro for many years before moving to New Bedford fifteen years ago, where she last resided. She was a member of St. Theresa's Church in Attleboro. Her name, Joy, best described her. She brought an endearing light and joy to all who were touched by her life. A waitress at several establishments, Joy enjoyed the ocean and being with people. She had a fondness for kittens. Joy loved being with her family, and had a very special affection for her beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Joy is survived by her treasured son, Keith D. Beland of New Bedford, her loving longtime companion, James Barras of New Bedford, cherished sister and brother, Jennifer A. Gordon and Jeffrey T. Beland, both of South Attleboro, and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Family and friends are encouraged to attend the funeral service immediately upon conclusion of visitation on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 7:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, The Reverend Thomas L.
