Joseph Allen Scherma, 38, of Prairie Avenue, Attleboro, died unexpectedly at his residence on Thursday, July 10, 2014. Born on February 13, 1976, in the Azores, Portugal, he was a son of the late Gerald and Deborah N. (Olsen) Scherma. He was raised and educated in Norton where he was a 1994 graduate of Norton High School. He earned his bachelor degree in economics from the University of Massachusetts in 1999. He moved to Attleboro six months ago from Foxboro. Mr. Scherma was employed as a payroll administrative assistant for the Transportation Security Administration for the past ten years. He enjoyed cooking, listening to music, watching movies and was a devoted sports enthusiast with a love for football. His favorite football player was Drew Bledsoe. Mr. Scherma leaves his twin brother: Anthony John Scherma and his wife, Louisa Evelyn (Carter) Scherma, of Attleboro; numerous aunts and uncles including Jan R. Scherma and his wife, Ann Scherma, of Cape Elizabeth, Maine and Diana M. (Scherma) Blaisdell and her husband, Thomas E. Blaisdell, of Ashburn, Virginia; several cousins, extended family members and dear friends. He was the maternal grandson of the late Raymond and Constance (Barber) Olsen and was the paternal grandson of the late Joseph and Maria J. (Radosta) Scherma. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a memorial visitation on Thursday, July 17, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the DYER-LAKE FUNERAL HOME, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service immediately following visitation on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the DYER-LAKE FUNERAL HOME, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Burial will be private. Children's room is available during visitation and the funeral service. Please omit flowers.
