Joseph "Joe" Francis Martinelli, 96, of Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Life Care Center of Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of the late Pauline (Cigan-McLear) Martinelli, who passed away on March 11, 2010.
Born on April 17, 1923 in Hebronville, MA, he was the son of the late Michael Martinelli and the late Rosea (Palmieri) Martinelli.
A lifelong resident of Attleboro and a graduate of Attleboro High School, Joe worked for more than thirty years as the head of maintenance for the former Polyfiber Company in that city, having retired in 1978. He proudly and honorably served our country in the United States Navy.
A warm, active, and outgoing man, he was an avid sports fan, enjoyed golf and bowling, was a member of the Attleboro Elks, and loved animals. More than anything, Joe cherished his family and friends and loved spending time with them.
He was the loving father of Carol Renne of Avon, CO, and Gail L. Stalnaker and her husband, Randy J. Stalnaker, of Rockledge, FL. Joe was the proud grandfather of Kelsey L. Stalnaker of Bethesda, MD; Patrisha A. Stalnaker of Jacksonville, FL; and David J. Renne of San Francisco, CA. He was predeceased by his siblings: Frank Martinelli, Carmella Terrana, Philomena Martinelli, Annie O'Brien, Alveda Ziegler, and Edith Walsh, and leaves several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service for Joe on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 12:00 Noon at the Attleboro Elks Lodge, 887 South Main Street, Attleboro, MA 02703.
