Joseph P. Goodchild

July 30, 1929 — March 2, 2013

Joseph P. Goodchild of Park Street, North Attleboro, died on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the husband of the late Annie Mae (Ball) Goodchild to whom he was married in Shreveport, Louisiana on July 8, 1957 and who died on January 3, 1991. Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on July 30, 1929, he was a son of the late Hector and Margaret (Fanning) Goodchild. Mr. Goodchild was a veteran of the United States Army having served honorably from his enlistment in 1946 until his discharge in 1952 after having received the World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was employed as a tool set-up coordinator and machine operator in the progressive metal and die stamping industry for many years until retiring in 1994 from Valentine Tool and Stamping in Norton. Mr. Goodchild was a North Attleboro resident for several years having moved to the community from Attleboro. He enjoyed gardening and carpentry projects. He leaves four children: Stewart of Attleboro; Steven of North Attleboro; Shelley Kimmel in Indiana and Stanley of Deering, NH; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a sister: Mary Boyers of North Attleboro and four nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Donna L. Goodchild and was the brother of the late Margaret LaPierre. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. Funeral services and burial will be private.
