Joseph Lawrence Giarraffa, 73, of Attleboro, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2016 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA. Born on December 6, 1942 in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Gastano "Guy" M. Giarraffa and the late Mary C. (Solimine) Giarraffa.A resident of Attleboro for the last twenty-five years, Joseph delighted in so very many things in life. As did his father, he found joy in music, especially classical music, opera, and playing the trombone. He enjoyed walking, the YMCA, "Chipper" his bull dog, smoking his pipe, bowling at the East Providence Lanes, telling stories time and again, his roommates, David and Arnold, Friendly's restaurant, and Spring banquet at the Highland Country Club. A former resident of the Wrentham State School, Joseph was an enthusiastic participant in programs at AEI, The ARC of Bristol County, and in community activities. Joseph leaves his cousins, many good friends, and his dear caregiver, Yvette Marchand of Attleboro, MA.Friends and family are cordially invited to attend a Visitation on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 Noon in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, ¾ mile on the left) Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service immediately following visitation on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 12:00 Noon in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home.Children's room is available during visitation and the funeral service.Those in need of a local ride to visitation may call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such complimentary transportation. Entombment will follow on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 in Holy Cross Cemetery & Mausoleum in Malden, MA.
