Joseph "Babe" George Charette,79, of Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 with his family at his side at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of the late Marilyn (Miller) Charette, to whom he was married on August 25, 1967, and who passed away on June 3, 2016.
Born on June 16, 1939 in Attleboro, he was the son of the late Leo and Lucienne (LaPointe) Charette.
A lifelong resident of Attleboro, Joseph was a graduate of Attleboro High School and proudly and honorably served our country in the United States Air Force. He worked as a Floor Scheduler for twenty-seven years for Bird Machine Company, and for Texas Instruments for five years, before retiring.
A warm, loving and outgoing man, he truly treasured his life with Marilyn. They were like two peas in a pod, and loved simply being with one another. Joseph enjoyed trips to Maine, watching the Boston Bruins, time spent with his beloved grandchildren and his grand-dogs, and classic cars, especially Corvettes.
He was the loving father of Robert F. Charette and his wife, Vaishali (Patel) Charette, of Goodyear, AZ, and Michelle L. DeFeo and her husband, William E. DeFeo Jr., of Warwick, RI. He was the proud and adoring grandfather of Karishma A. Charette, Kiana J. Charette, Haeleigh R. DeFeo, and Hannah G. DeFeo. Joseph was the brother of Ronald Charette of Attleboro, MA; and Norma "Blondie" Andrews of Brockton, MA; and was predeceased by his siblings: Leo Charette, Roland Charette, Jeannette McGlashing, Beatrice Johnson, and Eugene Charette. He leaves numerous nieces and nephews, his sister-in-law and dear friend, Joanne Turinese of Attleboro, MA; and many dear friends.
