Joseph "Joe" "Jody" G. Furtado, Jr., Nurse Practitioner, passed away on Saturday evening, April 20th after a brief illness.
He was the son of the late Joseph G. Furtado, Sr. and the late Florence B. (Baptiste) Furtado who had resided in Taunton, MA.
Joe graduated from Taunton  High School, the University of Massachusetts  - Amherst and the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing where he earned a master's degree in nursing.
Until his death, Joe worked as a Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner for Southcoast Health VNA.
He will always be remembered for his sharp wit, his unwavering care, advocacy and support of his patients and their families.
He was a fierce friend who was always there for you with his gift of some homemade jewelry, some advice, home-baked goods, or just his friendship and presence in your life.
His legacy will live on in the loving and joyous memories he has given to all who had the honor of knowing him.
He leaves his sister: Cathy Furtado; his niece: Courtenay Schwartz; grandniece: Weetsiebat; his nephew: Zachary Schwartz; cousins: Ricky Carvalho and Lynn Van Aman, various other beloved cousins, aunts, and many wonderful friends and colleagues.
