Joseph "Joe" John Drewniany, 97, of Taunton, MA, quietly passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at home, surrounded by his family on the land he loved and lived on his entire life. He was the beloved husband of the late Claire C. (Brady) Drewniany, to whom he was married for more than fifty memorable years, and who passed away on January 3, 2003.Born on October 12, 1920 in Taunton, MA, he was the son of the late Thomas and Anielia (Kulpa) Drewniany.A graduate of Taunton High School, he bravely and honorably served our country during World War II in the Merchant Marines, and was proud to have been awarded ribbons and medals for his dedicated service. He further contributed to the war efforts by machining steam turbine motors while employed by General Electric Company in Lynn, MA.Joe was raised on the family farm, which provided him a true hands-on appreciation of nature and working the soil. Enjoying the miracle and beauty of flowers and trees, he successfully owned and operated Spring Brook Nursery and Garden Center for over forty years.A man of great faith and devotion, he had a religious upbringing and was a member of Holy Rosary Parish in Taunton. Throughout his many years, he called upon his strong faith to guide himself and his loved ones through life's challenges. Joe was always a hardworking man. He enjoyed the outdoors, music, puzzles, and watching classic movies. He loved visits to Plymouth and Cape Cod, and especially spending time at Onset Beach in Wareham.Joe was the loving father of four daughters: Susan E. Brandon of Taunton, and her late husband, Michael B. Brandon; Marie E. Drewniany of Taunton; Kathleen A. Beaulieu and her husband, William N. Beaulieu, of Taunton; and Maureen K. Andrews and her husband, Gary S. Andrews, of Taunton, all of whom will forever remember their father being as strong as the mighty Oak. He was the adoring grandfather of six awesome grandchildren: the late J. Scott Brandon; Elizabeth M. (Brandon) Faulkner; Adam M. Brandon; Jennifer M. Drewniany; Peter W. Beaulieu; and David J. Beaulieu; and the loving great-grandfather of Micaela E. Dion; Sebastian M. Brandon; and Adeline C. Brandon.At his request, no formal services will be held.
