Jose "Joe" M. Aguiar Jr.

Jose "Joe" M. Aguiar, Jr., 78, of Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully at his residence on January 6, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Mary Angel (Pimentel) Aguiar to whom he was married on June 22, 1968.
Born on July 23, 1944, in the village of Feteiras, Ponta Delgado, Azores, he was a son of the late Jose Aguiar, Sr and the late Dionisia (Martins) Aguiar. He was raised and educated in his native country, where he was a player on a futbol team as part of the Azores Futbol Club.
He immigrated to the United States at the age of 17 and resided in Woonsocket, Rhode Island for nine years prior to moving to the City of Attleboro where he has remained a longtime resident.
He was a communicant of Holy Ghost Church in the Lonicut neighborhood and was a member of the Portuguese American Club, Attleboro.
Mr. Aguiar was employed as a press operator for Brainin Advances Industries in Attleboro for a few years prior to his retirement. Previously, he was a longtime employee of K.F. Bassler in Attleboro.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two daughters: Debra J. Smith and her husband, Albert Smith III, of Bridgewater, MA and Christine M. Morin and her husband, Mark Morin, of Attleboro, MA; two grandchildren: Maya Morin of Attleboro, MA and Jordyn Smith of Bridgewater, MA; two step grandchildren: Johannah Smith of Stoughton, MA and Albert Smith IV of Raynham, MA; one step great grandchild: Albert Smith V of Raynham, MA and several extended family members and friends.
He was the beloved father of the late Jo-Ann Aguiar who died on July 13, 1973, at the age of 2.
Mr. Aguiar was predeceased by his brother, John Aguiar.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend Visitation on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, between 4:00pm and 7:00pm in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Church, 71 Linden Street, Attleboro, MA.
There will be no public funeral cortège from the funeral home.
Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Attleboro, MA where he will be laid to rest with his beloved daughter.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
