John S. Reid

John S. Reid, 90, of Colvin Street, South Attleboro, died on Monday, January 31, 2011 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Hospice Center in Providence. He was the devoted husband of the late Evelyn Jessie (Richmond) Reid to whom he was married for 58 cherished years prior to her passing. Born in Scotland on December 7, 1920, Mr. Reid was a son of the late Joseph and Martha (Stewart) Reid. He was a resident of Pawtucket prior to moving to South Attleboro in 1980. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all whom knew him. Mr. Reid was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the World War II era. He was employed as an electrical engineer for the former Foxboro Company for many years prior to his retirement. In earlier years, he enjoyed attending functions with his wife at the Elks Lodge #90 in Pawtucket where he was a member. He was a former Mason. He enjoyed gardening and will be affectionately remembered as a handy man who could literally fix anything. He leaves two daughters: Donna A. Duchesneau of Dunbarton, NH and Joyce Laramee of Pawtucket; a son: Gordon Reid of Lakeville, MA; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Mary Foran and James Reid. Funeral services and burial will be private.
