John Allen Percevay, 92, of North Attleboro, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at The Village at Willow Crossing in Mansfield, MA. He was the beloved husband of the late Philomena Barbara (Nardelli) Percevay to whom he was married on April 29, 1950 and who died on February 18, 2006. Born on August 3, 1925 in Warren, RI, he was the son of the late Julius and Agnes Percevecz. He was a graduate of Pawtucket West High School, Class of 1943, and was elected class President, Captain of the football team, and chosen as a member of the All Blackstone and Westerners Valley All Star Squad. He played semi-professional football for the Attleboro Jewelers and the North Attleboro Towners.John proudly and honorably served our country in the United States Navy for three years during World War II, and worked for thirty-six years as a federal employee in the Boston Transportation Management Service Center as a Transportation and Equipment Specialist before retiring. John was a longtime resident of North Attleboro, living on Jay Street most of his life, and affectionately came to be known as "Jay Street Johnny". A man of great faith and devotion, he was an active member of St. Mary's Church in North Attleboro. A warm, kind-hearted, funny man with a wonderful sense of humor, he was an ardent fan of all of the New England sports teams, an avid golfer and tennis player, loved dancing with his wife, and enjoyed traveling with her throughout Europe, especially to Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, England, and France. He enjoyed his daughter's cats, "Oakie" and "Shadow", and more than anything, he simply loved being with his family and grandchildren. John was the loving father of Lynne K. Percevay and her husband, John M. Prohodsky, of Salem, OR; and Laurie A. Shea and her companion, Gary P. Brodeur, of Attleboro, MA. He was the adoring grandfather of Zachary R. Prohodsky, Brianna M. Shea, and Patrick John Shea, and was looking forward to the birth of his great-granddaughter, Charlie Elizabeth Prohodsky. He was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters, and leaves several nieces and nephews. John was the dear companion of Lynne Leco of Tiverton, RI.Friends and family are cordially invited to honor and remember John by gathering for a Visitation with Veterans Honors on Saturday, July 7, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 14 Park Street, North Attleboro, MA.Graveside services with full Military Honors will immediately follow in Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, Attleboro Falls, MA, at which time John will be laid to rest alongside his dear late wife, Philomena.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's name to the American Red Cross, P.O.
