John A. Palumbo

February 22, 1927 — February 13, 2024

John "Shy" Anthony Palumbo, 96, of Plainville, MA passed away surrounded by his loving family at his residence on February 13, 2024.  He was the husband of the late Dolores "Del" Lorraine (Bernard) Palumbo who died on June 4, 2004.
Born in Jersey City, New Jersey on February 22, 1927, he was a son of the late John Palumbo and the late Bridgette (Armenti) Palumbo.  He was raised and educated in New Jersey where he resided until moving to Franklin, MA and later moving to Plainville, MA.
Mr. Palumbo was a proud veteran of the United States Navy having honorably served during World War II.
He was employed as the plant manager for Ball Glass in New Jersey for many years prior to his retirement.
John was a communicant of St. Martha Parish in Plainville, MA.
He loved to work in the garden, cook, perform carpentry work, bird watching but was especially a sports enthusiast especially being a dedicated fan of the New York Rangers.
Mr. Palumbo leaves his children:  John Michael Palumbo of Ormond Beach, Florida and Dawn Jean Loney of Plainville, MA ; 5 grandchildren including Courtney Blacker and her husband, Andrew Blacker, and Nicole Loney and her companion, Alex White, all of whom resided with Mr,. Palumbo in Plainville, MA and 4 great grandchildren.  He was also the uncle of many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Jean Norrell, Joseph Palumbo, Julia Favale, and Yolanda Cirelli.
Relatives and friends are warmly welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 10:30 am at St. Martha Parish, 227 South Street, Plainville, MA.
Military honors will be presented at the conclusion of services.
Visitation is respectfully omitted.
An invitation to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments will be announced.
