John Irving Lovely

John "Jack" Irving Lovely, 76, of Dorrance Street, Attleboro, died unexpectedly surrounded by his loving family on Monday, June 8, 2015 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the husband of Judith "Judy" A. (Costine) Lovely to whom he was married on July 22, 1961. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on January 16, 1939, he was a son of the late Leo and Catherine E. (Hodges) Lovely. He was raised, educated and remained a lifelong resident of the City of Attleboro. He was a 1957 graduate of Attleboro High School. Mr. Lovely was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was employed by the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier in the City of Attleboro from 1957 until his retirement in November 2003. Mr. Lovely had been a member of the Second Congregational Church, Attleboro. He was a life member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks - Lodge 1014, Attleboro; he enjoyed golf and bowling in earlier years. Mr. Lovely's favorite pastimes included times spent during the summer in Dennisport, bird watching, time at Cape Cod beaches, reading and solving word search and crossword puzzles but most of all time spent with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a founding member of the Attleboro Pop Warner league and was a coach for the Junior All American League for many years. In addition to his wife of almost 54 years, he leaves his children: Robin A. Gohring of Attleboro; Karen L. Laythe and her husband, James A. Laythe, of North Attleboro; Lisa A. Brown of Attleboro and Michaelyn J. Anderson and her husband, Daniel Anderson, of Attleboro; nine grandchildren: Joshua W. Gohring and his wife, Mandy; Justin C. Gohring and his wife, Christina; Jeremy M. Gohring; Kathryn E. LeBlanc; Jordan T. Laythe; Hayley J. Travers and her husband, Joseph; Jack T. Brown; Matthew R. LeBreux and John T. LeBreux; three great grandchildren: Melanie I. Gohring, Lyla G. Gohring and Jackson I. Gohring; a sister: Laurie Ryder of Jackson, Mississippi and many extended family members and friends. He was the brother of the late William Lovely. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Friday, June 12, 2015 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. A Funeral Service will immediately follow visitation on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 7:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Emmett Larkin Memorial Fund, 1505 Park Street - Suite 310, Attleboro, MA 02703.
