John "Jack" Kenneth White, Jr.

John "Jack" Kenneth White, Jr., 57, of Ocala, FL, formerly of Plainville, MA, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA.He was the beloved husband of Catherine Jane (DeLuca) White for thirty-seven years.Born on March 1, 1960, he was the son of Maureen (Sullivan) White and the late John Kenneth White, Sr. of Canton, MA.A graduate of Canton High School, Class of 1978, Jack continued his education at the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy and the Memorial Hospital Paramedic Program. He also attended Bristol Community College and Providence College Fire Service programs. Jack proudly served the community as a Fire Captain with the North Attleboro Fire Department from 1986 until his retirement in 2016. He previously served with pride as a Firefighter for the Town of Plainville, MA from 1986 until 1989. He was also a call firefighter for the Town of Canton Fire Department from 1978 to 1984. He was an exceptional teacher and mentor for both EMT's and Paramedic's throughout Southeastern Massachusetts. He passed on his kind, caring and compassionate nature and patient care expertise to the next generation of First Responders. Jack was the 1998 recipient of Bristol County North's Paramedic of the Year Award. He also worked for Brewster Ambulance in Boston, the Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick, and the Emergency Room of Norwood Hospital.In the early years of marriage, Jack lived in Canton and Plymouth. He was a Plainville resident for twenty-eight years, until his retirement in 2015 when he moved to Ocala, Florida. Jack was an avid golfer and loved to travel with his wife throughout the world. Upon retirement, he looked forward to special visits from his New England friends and family. As his children grew up and moved throughout the country, he could always be counted on to lend a hand. Jack had an overwhelming love for his family, his friends, and for life itself. In addition to his wife Catherine, he leaves his cherished children: Lynnette M. MacIver of Haverhill, MA; David A. White of Ocala, FL; John M. White and his wife, Patricia, of Advance, NC; Alison R. Winters, and her husband, Brent, of Longmont, CO; Victoria A. Ryan and her husband, Christopher, of Wallingford, CT; and Stephen B. White and his fiancée, Ryan Whitecotton, of Pawtucket, RI. Jack was the proud and adoring grandfather of Chuckie DeSimone, Brennan Cook, Rachel Winters, Reese Winters, Catie White, Kara White, and John Patrick Ryan, and great-grandfather of Kyley DeSimone. In addition to leaving his mother: Maureen White of Taunton, MA, Jack was the dear brother of Deborah Tharp of Taunton, MA; Brian White of Canton, MA; Mark White of Wrentham, MA; and Diane McGreevy of Taunton, MA, and brother-in-law of Georgiana Hilchey and Raymond DeLuca of Ocala, FL.He leaves many nieces and nephews, numerous dear friends, and his fellow fire fighters with whom he had the honor and privilege of serving. Friends and family are cordially invited to honor and remember Jack by gathering for a Visitation on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., and on Thursday, August 24, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the Funeral Service on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. from the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, North Attleboro, or meet directly at church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 14 Park Street, North Attleboro, MA.Burial will be private.Children's room is available during the visitation and funeral service.In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's memory can be made by mail or on-line to Massachusetts General Hospital Development Office, Atten: Carrie Powers, 125 Nashua Street, Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114.
