John Robert Jeffrey

d. January 1, 2001

John Robert Jeffrey, Sr., 43, of Pleasant Street, Attleboro; a lifelong Attleboro resident; died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 24, 2008 upon arrival at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro after having been stricken ill after having spent the day doing what he loved so much ? landscaping his mother?s property. He was the husband of CarolAnn M. (Hebert) Jeffrey to whom he was married on October 27, 2001. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on April 1, 1965, he was the beloved son of Claire (Galarneau) Jeffrey, owner and operator of Claire?s Casuals in downtown Attleboro, and the late Robert Donald Jeffrey who died on January 28, 2003. He was raised and educated in Attleboro where he attended Attleboro public schools. Mr. Jeffrey was employed as a union member for almost the past twenty years as a machine operator at Fortifiber Corporation in Attleboro. He, along with his family, attended Centenary United Methodist Church, Attleboro. An accomplished musician, he was a member of ?Johnny J. and the Turmoils? and ?The Hackers?, to name but a few of the local bands that he was a member. His skills as a musician playing the guitar and drums were largely recognized in the community. He was always the first to raise his hand and volunteer his time and talents to assist in local fundraising efforts to benefit organizations, individuals or families in need. An ardent reader, he was an avid bicycler and was known to his family and friends as a fabulous cook and the keeper of the secret family recipe for broccoli casserole that he inherited from his father. Memorial Day was one of his favorite times of year. It meant working in the yard beautifying it for the upcoming summer season, time spent grilling and cooking for family and friends and, of course, plenty of ?jam? sessions with his fellow musicians. In addition to his wife and mother, he leaves two sons: John R. Jeffrey, Jr. of Norway, Maine and David Bryan Jeffrey, age 8, of Attleboro; two sisters: Barbara Ann Jeffrey of Attleboro and Jane Elizabeth Jeffrey of Attleboro; a brother: David Alexander Jeffrey of Cranston, Rhode Island and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
