John Francis Healy Jr., 65, of Cumberland, RI, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at home. He was the beloved husband of Phyllis (DaCruz) Healy, whom he was married on June 24, 1978.
Born on July 22, 1954 in Pawtucket, RI, he was the son of the late John Francis Healy Sr. and the late Geraldine (Sullivan) Healy.
A graduate of North Attleboro High School, Class of 1972, he then graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology, where he was on the Dean's List. John worked for many years as an Engineer for the Balfour Corporation, Johnson & Johnson, Victoria Creations, Tiffany's, and Avon, before retiring in 1998.
A resident of Cumberland for the past thirty-five years, he previously lived in Attleboro and North Attleboro, MA. He attended St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church in South Attleboro.
John enjoyed playing pool and had been a member of a pool league; camping; and visits to the Foxwoods and Twin Rivers casinos. He loved visiting Mystic, CT, as well as Cape Cod and Pt. Judith, RI, in the past. A terrific athlete, he played baseball and softball in his younger years, and was a longtime ardent fan of the New England Patriots.
In addition to his loving wife, Phyllis he leaves his siblings: Gerry Tenbrink of Fairhaven, MA; Arlene McVeigh of Cumberland, RI; Jean Faulkner of Mansfield, MA; Joan Healy of North Attleboro, MA; Robert Healy of Seekonk, MA; and Marjorie Lackritz of California. He is survived by many nieces and nephews, his extended family, and many dear friends.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Mass for John on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church, 18 Baltic Street, Attleboro, MA 02703.
Burial services will be privately held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of John to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
