John James Gormley III, 76, of Attleboro, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 14, 2018 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA. Born on April 22, 1942 in Milford, CT, he was the son of the late John James Gormley II and the late Angela (Roviaro) Gormley.A longtime resident of Attleboro, John worked for many years at Mikes Truck Stop in Wrentham, MA as an Auto Mechanic and Truck Driver before retiring in 1978.John enjoyed following and watching NASCAR, car racing, most BBC and cooking shows, was an ardent fan of New England sports teams, and attended the Attleboro Moose Lodge. He loved spending time with his family, and had a special place in his heart for his cat, "Peppercorn".John was the loving and beloved father of Desiree S. Gentle and her husband, Harold J. Gentle, of Belle Isle, FL; Jacqueline M. Gormley and her companion, Ben Malcolmson, of Gardner, MA; and Samantha Bramelus and her husband, Brandon Bramelus, of North Attleboro, MA. He was the adoring grandfather of Michelle L. Gentle, Daniel J. Gentle, and Kimberly A. Gentle, and the proud great-grandfather of Kayla L. Gentle and Dominick B. Gentle. John was the dear brother of Lois Caruso and her husband, David Caruso, of South Attleboro, MA; Laurie Langella of Warwick, RI; and Suzanne Hoyle of Pawtucket, RI. He leaves several nieces and nephews and many good friends.All services for John will be private.
