John "Jack" "Papa" Eugene Gagne Sr., 86, of Attleboro, MA passed away on December 16, 2020 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Janet E. "Nana" (Holdgate) Gagne to whom he was married on February 9, 1957 and who passed on March 14, 2016.
Born in Attleboro, MA on July 31, 1934, he was one of 13 children born to the late Cyril J. Gagne and the late Yvonne A. (Marion) Gagne. He was educated and resided for most of his life in the City of Attleboro.
Mr. Gagne was employed as a toolmaker for the former Gagne Bros., Texas Instruments and Checon. In later years, he was employed as a maintenance worker for the Community VNA in Attleboro.
He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Attleboro.
As an ardent bowler, Mr. Gagne was a past member of the Brockton Bowling Association in which he was inducted into their Hall of Fame. He was also an active member of the Greater Attleboro Youth Bowling and loved playing cribbage and collecting coins.
He leaves three children: Donna M. (Gagne) Hill of Attleboro; Dori L. (Gagne) Strumar of Reisterstown, Maryland and John "Jay" E. Gagne, Jr. and his wife, Kathleen M. Gagne, of Seekonk; he was beloved "Papa" to: Joe, Travis, Chelsea, Kraig, Kyle, Tiger, Alex, Karryn, Daniel, and Gabrielle and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was the father of the late Denise L. (Gagne) Ferri who died on May 1, 1994.
He was the brother of Elaine A. Cutter of Plainville and Thomas C. Gagne in Florida.
He was predeceased by the following siblings: Mary Irene Woyton, Claire L. Jacobs, Alfred Gagne, Raymond Gagne, Edmond G. Gagne, Ernest Gagne, Robert Gagne, Albert Gagne, Cyril "Paul" Gagne and Donald P. Gagne.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Gathering on Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA with Mr. Gagne's grandson, Rev. Joseph Everton, M.S., officiating.
Burial for Mr. Gagne and his late wife, Janet, will immediately follow in St. John's Cemetery, West Street, Attleboro, MA.
Following services an invitation will be extended to join the family for continued fellowship and remembrance for both Mr. Gagne and his late brother, Donald P. Gagne, who passed on February 19, 2021.
