John Arnold Fraise, 91, of Heather Street, North Attleboro, died on Tuesday, August 17, 2011 at the Life Care Center of Attleboro where he had been a resident for the previous nine days. He was the beloved husband of the late Althea Mildred (Brackett) Fraise to whom he was married on July 6, 1946 and entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 3, 2011. Born in Blackstone, Massachusetts on August 16, 1920, he was the son of the late Oscar A. and Grace R. (OMalley) Frese. He was lovingly raised by his late stepmother, Jeannette (LeForge) St. Peter. Raised and educated in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Mr. Fraise attended Pawtucket schools and resided in the community until moving to Providence, Rhode Island following his marriage. After living in Rhode Island for two years, Mr. Fraise and his family moved to North Attleboro where he has resided since 1947. Mr. Fraise served with the United States Army from his enlistment on August 1, 1939 until his honorable discharge on August 12, 1945. He was later employed as a laborer for American Perma-Cast in Lincoln, Rhode Island for 15 years prior to retiring at the age of 70. A longtime member of Cushman Union Church, Mr. Fraise served his church community in numerous capacities including head usher, deacon, trustee and auditor. In earlier years he enjoyed time spent bowling, playing cards, the occasional trip to the casino and traveling. For more than 30 years he treasured the times spent camping with his family members and dear friends at Hide Away Cove and Stateline Campgrounds in Connecticut. He treasured the time spent around his home and property puttering with little projects and fixing things. An ardent walker, Mr. Fraise would walk 4.5 miles each and every day regardless of weather conditions until his wifes illness in 2006 and was often recognizable by the bright orange hat he wore.
