John Joseph Flynn, 76, of Park Street, Rehoboth, died on Friday, June 30, 2006 at his residence following a courageous health battle and surrounded by the love of his family. He was the husband of Beverly A. (McManus) Flynn to whom he was married on November 29, 1952. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on February 15, 1930, he was a son of the late James P. and Elsie Irene (Barton) Flynn. Raised and educated in Attleboro, Mr. Flynn was a 1948 graduate of Attleboro High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy from February 1947 until March 1957 and achieved the rank of Machinist Mate 2nd. He had been a resident of Rehoboth since 1961. Mr. Flynn was a self-employed building contractor and real estate developer for many years and was the owner and operator of House of 1712, Highland Construction and Duplex Realty Trust. He was a member of the Second Congregational Church in Attleboro for many years. A proud and patriotic man, he was a member of the American Legion Post #302 in Rehoboth. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time with his beloved grandchildren and he treasured the times and memories made on camping trips with them. In addition to his wife of 53 years, he leaves four children: Jo-Ann Greene and her husband, Dwaine S. Greene, of Attleboro; Michael Flynn of Rehoboth; Diane Newnum and her husband, Gerald Newnum, of Booneville, Indiana and Sue McManus of Warwick; four grandchildren: Jonathan Bailey of Rehoboth; Randi Flynn of Attleboro; Jennifer Bailey of Attleboro and Justin Flynn of Attleboro; a brother: Stanley J. Flynn of Norton and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Madeline Cronin, Doris M. Adams and Benjamin T. Flynn.
