John Steven Danko, Sr., 78, of North Attleboro, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA. He was the beloved husband of Suzanne Andree (St. Germaine) Danko, to whom he was married on September 2, 1961.Born on March 20, 1940 in Woonsocket, RI, he was the son of Genevieve Mary (Krawczyk) Danko of Wrentham, MA, and the late Peter J. Danko.A graduate of Woonsocket High School, he received his Associate Degree in Engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology and his Bachelor's Degree from Northeastern University. John worked for more than forty-five years as a Project Manager for the Foxboro Company before retiring in 2002.Previously a resident of Woonsocket, John lived in North Attleboro since 1964, where he was a longtime member of St. Mark's Parish.A warm and outgoing man, John was an avid golfer and card player who loved family get-togethers, fishing, playing cribbage and pitch, fantasy football, and trips to Sunset Beach, NC, and to the beach in Dennis Port on the Cape. He was a member of the American Legion in Foxboro and the Falls Athletic Club. More than anything, John loved being with his cherished family and grandchildren, and held a special place in his heart for his companions: his dog, "Teddy", and his cat, "Bella".In addition to his wife, Suzanne, he leaves his loving children: John S. Danko, Jr., and his wife, Christine A. (Harhen) Danko, of Norton, MA; Karen D. (Danko) Dubuc and her husband, Scott P. Dubuc, of North Attleboro, MA; Jill C. (Danko) Aspinwall and her husband, Donald F. Aspinwall, of Attleboro, MA; and Steven R. Danko and his wife, Shannon L. Danko, of Attleboro, MA. He was the proud and adoring grandfather of twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and the dear brother of Barbara A. (Danko) Cavedon and her husband, Roderick R. Cavedon, of North Attleboro, MA. John leaves several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.Friends and family are cordially invited to honor and remember John by gathering for a Visitation on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the Funeral Service on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. from the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, North Attleboro, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Parish, 105 Stanley Street, Attleboro Falls, MA.Burial services will immediately follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham, MA.A Children's Room is available during the visitation and funeral service.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's name to either the American Cancer Society, New England Division, Inc., 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701, or at www.cancer.org ; or to The National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette, 947 Park Street, Attleboro, MA 02703.For additional information or to send the family a written expression of sympathy, please visit an online guest book at www.dyer-lakefuneralhome.com .
