John W. Clarner, 79, of North Attleboro, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Hope Hospice Palliative Care in Providence, RI. He was the beloved husband of Marie K. (McCrave) Clarner. They were happily married for 43 years.
John took pleasure in engaging in activities such as golfing, bowling, playing cards, fishing, and hunting. He loved spending time outdoors and living on Whiting’s Pond. He exhibited a strong competitive spirit in all sports and endeavors he pursued. Additionally, he was a dedicated member of the North Attleboro Elks 1011. His service in the Navy during the Vietnam War as a jet engine mechanic and plane captain was notable. Following his military career, he spent many years working as an auto mechanic before retiring. In his retirement, he dedicated the last 16 years of his professional life to the North Attleboro School Department as a tradesman.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving children, Elizabeth Mooney and her husband Jarrett of North Attleboro and Peter “Pete” Clarner of North Attleboro. He is also survived by his cherished grandsons, Conlan and Jameson Mooney and his extended family, the Luzons.
Family and friends are warmly welcome to attend Visitation on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, anytime from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 until 8:00pm in the “Memorial Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
All are welcome to join the funeral cortege on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. from the “Memorial Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at the Transfiguration of the Lord Parish - St. Mark's, Stanley Street, North Attleboro, MA. Military honors will follow at St. Mark’s Church.
Burial will be private at a later date in Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum Cemetery, North Attleboro, MA.
