John "Jack" Bartley, Jr.
April 12th, 1943 - September 29th, 2022
Jack Bartley, 79, of Norton, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2022, at home with his dear wife of 58 years, Irene, at his side.
Known for his quick wit and the love of a good story, Jack could tell a joke or spin a yarn with the best of them. Drawing from a wealth of life experiences, Jack would recount a funny story or an interesting anecdote, captivating and entertaining his audience. He had a wry sense of humor and the ability to help others view the world in a different way. Jack's stories were relatable to others because they were human stories.
Jack was a hard worker who was self-employed and owned his own businesses over the years. He loved tending to his land, working on his tractors and spending time outdoors.
Jack always relished a chance to gather with his loved ones to celebrate a birthday, holiday, special occasion or important milestone. Jack reveled in the accomplishments of his four grandchildren: Olivia, Paul, Will and Luke.
In his later years, Jack enjoyed exploring the East Bay in Rhode Island on his "Friday Date Days" with Irene. Whether conversing with a farmer in Westport or tracking down the best fish and chips in the area, Jack liked meeting new people, listening to their stories and spending time with his wife. He was a sociable man who loved meeting up with his friends at the local Honey Dew to compare notes and discuss the topics of the day.
In addition to his wife, Irene, he leaves three daughters: Lynda Bartley of Norton, Jeanne Karcis of Norton; Diane Taylor, and husband, Rick Taylor, of Rehoboth; and his four grandchildren: Olivia Karcis, Paul Karcis, William Taylor, and Luke Taylor.
Visitation is respectfully omitted.
