John Francis Austin

John Francis Austin, 70, of Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family.Born on May 25, 1947 in Attleboro, he was the son of the late Henry Austin Sr. and the late Myrtle (Garrity) Grant. A graduate of Mansfield High School, John proudly and honorably served our country in the United States Army from 1967 until 1970, and then worked for twenty-nine years for the Foxboro Company in Foxboro, MA, before retiring. A resident of Attleboro and North Attleboro for many years, he also previously lived in Mansfield, MA.He was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life: trips to Maine, watching nature shows on television, and scooter rides. He had a special place in his heart for his faithful canine buddy, "Molly". More than anything, John cherished spending time with his beloved family.He was the loving father of Joseph Austin and his wife, Grace (Flanagan) Austin, of Easton, MA; Tina Austin and her spouse, Shauna Antu Austin, of Cumberland, RI; Kimberly Moody of Attleboro; and Steven Austin of Attleboro. He was the proud and adoring grandfather of nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. John was the dear brother of Rose Mackay and her husband, Tommy Mackay, of California; Myrtle Simpson of Georgia; Nellie Thompson and her husband, Paul Thompson, of North Attleboro; and the late Henry Austin Jr. He leaves several nieces and nephews.
